Armstrong-Clark Transparent Matte Mahogany Oil-Based Wood Stain is a traditional exterior wood stain designed to enhance and rejuvenate wood surfaces while preserving their natural grain and character. This oil-based formula combines drying and non-drying oils to deliver two layers of protection with a single application, making it ideal for decks, fences, furniture, and other wood projects both indoors and outdoors. The transparent matte mahogany finish adds warmth and richness without obscuring the wood's natural beauty, creating an elegant, understated appearance.
The stain conditions wood by penetrating deep into the wood fiber with non-drying conditioning oils that restore the wood's natural moisture and vitality. The drying oils lock in the conditioning oils and create a protective barrier. Unlike many exterior stains, this formula allows you to apply maintenance coats without stripping, sanding, or media blasting, and the wood can be exposed to rain just one hour after full absorption. Top-rated by wood restoration professionals, this stain performs reliably across a wide range of wood types and conditions.
Features and Benefits
- Dual-Oil Protection: Non-drying oils rejuvenate wood fibers while drying oils create a surface barrier, delivering comprehensive protection in one coat.
- No Peeling or Cracking: The advanced formula prevents peeling, cracking, flashing, and sticky shiners that plague traditional stains.
- Easy Maintenance: Reapply without stripping or sanding; the wood resists rain after just one hour of absorption.
- Can Be Applied in Direct Sun: This stain can be applied in direct sun and the heat of the day without complications.
- Excellent Coverage: Covers 200–300 square feet per gallon on vertical softwoods and up to 300–400 square feet on hardwoods, depending on wood porosity and type.
- Transparent Matte Finish: Showcases natural wood grain while adding a warm mahogany hue for an elegant, professional look.
